Gotta get back in time? Van Meer's World is twelve years behind the times literally!
A casual look tells you you’ve traveled back in time, but that’s not the case. Instead, you’re visiting a world postulated by eminent physicist Herbert Van Meer.
Over the course of billions of years, the earth, rotating on its axis slightly faster but completing one solar revolution in the same amount of time, has built up a bit of a time lapse due to gravitometric forces. The result? Events that occurred on Earth Prime 12 years ago are just taking place now.
The San Francisco of this world is still reeling from damage caused by the Loma Prieta earthquake and is slipping further into the economic depression that characterized the beginnings of the 1990s. Grunge rock is coming to the forefront, and President George Bush is fighting a pointless battle in Iraq over — yep, you guessed it — oil.
Unless you’re a brain dead hillbilly, you should have a basic idea of what happened twelve years ago. If you don’t remember, get a copy of the Encyclopedia Britannica and read it.
Because traveling to this world is almost like traveling back in time to the early '90s, we've restricted travel to prevent "entrepreneurs" from polluting their future.
